ATS Reduces Truck Speed

Anderson Trucking Service, Inc., a nationwide full truckload freight transportation company, announce today that it is reducing the maximum governed speed of its company trucks from 68 mph to 65 mph. By adjusting it's fleet to run at the lower maximum speed, the company expects to save about 544,000 gallons of diesel fuel per year, while reducing annual carbon emissions by approximately 12 million pounds. This savings represents the equivalent of removing 1,225 cars from American highways.

Lowering speed limits will help to reduce carbon emissions and maintain profitability for the company. Since 2006, Anderson Trucking Service, Inc. has been a member of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Smartway Transport Partnership. Smartway Transport is a voluntary partnership between the EPA and freight industry businesses, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption.
